Earth Day

April 22 is Earth Day, a day to celebrate our environment. It is a special day celebrated by more than 140 countries and more than a billion people to help the Earth.  Many people gather in groups to help clean our home.

Earth Day started when, in 1969, a massive oil spill in Santa Barbra, California, sparked the idea for Graylord Nelson, an environmentalist and a senator from Wisconsin, who partnered with Denis Hayes, a Harvard student, to organize the first national Earth Day.

A few ways to help out with this celebration is planting trees, using less electricity, limiting the use of water, recycling, or just simply spread the word to others. Earth Day has helped our world in so many ways and has brought unity across the world.
