SHS Varsity Cheer at the ESPN World of Sports

Thursday February 16, The Springville high school cheerleaders headed to Disney World in Orlando to compete in the 2023 nationals. After arriving, the cheerleaders headed to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for their first official practice together in Orlando. Friday morning the team went to the complex and watched other teams compete on the mat. After lunch, the team practiced and prepared for their 3:37 check-in prior to the performance. After a final run through, they exit the portal back into the hallway and wait on the team’s name to be called. Finally, it was the cheerleaders turn to take the mat for the preliminary competition. There were 48 teams going up against Springville, and only half would advance to the semifinals on Saturday. Finally, the tigers received the exciting news, they would be making it to Day 2! Saturday, the tigers competed in the semi-finals with a performance just a little less technical than Friday. The tigers ended up falling short with a score of .7 away from finals.  Although the tigers didn’t make it all the way, the community couldn’t be prouder of the Springville High cheer girls and their hard work!
