Last Friday, Springville faced off with Cherokee County at home. After a rough opening quarter, Cherokee was in the lead 14- 7. Early in the second quarter, Springville’s defense got their first stop in a 3 in out. Neither the Tigers nor the Warriors could get anything going the next couple of drives and they traded punts. The Warriors would soon score another touchdown, widening the gap 21- 7. After an unsuccessful drive, Springville punted it away, giving it back to Cherokee County, but this time, the Tigers would get the ball back quickly with an interception. The next play, the Tigers would run it in for a touchdown, making it 21- 14 and ending the half.

After the half, both teams would end drives in punts, until the Warriors threw a 55- yard touchdown pass, making it 28- 14. On the next possession, the Tigers would turn to a new quarterback, Asa Morrison. On the same drive, Morrison threw a rocket to Johnny Wolf for a touchdown, making the score 28- 21. The Tiger defense forced a punt and the ball came back to Springville. Sadly, a mix up caused a fumble, and the Warriors picked it up and went 50 yards with it. That play sealed the game, and the final score was 35- 21. This week, the Tigers begin region play against Fort Payne at home.
