On January 18, 2023, Wes Moore was sworn in as the first African American Governor of Maryland. Moore won the 2022 Maryland Gubernatorial Election after swiftly beating (R) Dan Cox. Moore received 64.70% of Maryland’s vote whilst Dan Cox won 32.20% of Maryland’s Votes. During Moore’s Inauguration he state “I will govern the same way: For all Marylanders. For those who did not vote for me, I will work to earn your support; for those who did, I will work to keep it.” Moore also stated that “Every student in Maryland will know that there are many paths to success and fulfillment — and those paths begin with high-quality, highly inclusive schools from Pre-K to 12th grade.” Aruna Miller was also sworn in as Lt. Governor
