Let’s Give Thanks!
November 14, 2022
Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the United States. Thanksgiving 2022 occurs on Thursday, November 24. The Plymouth colonist and the Wampanoag first celebrated Thanksgiving with the colonies in 1621. This holiday has been celebrated for more than two centuries by individual colonies and states. Thanksgiving wasn’t officially a national holiday until 1863 when Abraham Lincoln, in the midst of the Civil War, proclaimed it to be held each November. In ancient times, the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians paid tribute to their gods and feasted after the fall harvest. Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity for people to gather with loved ones and appreciate their blessings.
