The history of Christmas, according to Hans J. Hillebrand, is a Christian festival celebrating the birth of Jesus. The English form of as we know Christmas which means mass on Christ’s day. It is different in other languages like Navidad in Spanish, Natale in Italian, Noël in French. In the United States, most people celebrate Christmas in some form even if they are non-Christians. Many families celebrate Christmas by exchanging gifts to show they care for each other. In this secular Christmas celebrated, a mythical figure named Santa Clause, and he plays a pivotal role. In the myth, Santa brings gifts to good children, and brings children joy. There are many names for Santa Clause around the world as well. This year, Christmas is celebrated on Sunday, December 25.
