Here at Springville High School our Christmas tree just got put up in the main office, since Christmas is right around the corner. The tree in the main office is 12 feet tall. Every year millions of families start to put up their Christmas trees in November and December to celebrate the holiday season, but many people who do this tradition every year do not know the beginnings of this tradition nor its history.

The Christmas tree originally started in Germany when Christians brought decorated trees and brought the trees inside during the 16th century.  The lights on the trees are thought to have first been placed on the tree by Martin Luther.  The tradition took quite a while to spread to America because of the Puritans.
