Wreaths Across America

This year, the SHS Beta Club will be continuing its annual tradition of participating in an event called Wreaths Across America. This nationwide event began in an effort to both honor our fallen veterans and give their families peace as the holiday season approaches. Each family can purchase a wreath for $15 at any point throughout the year, and in mid December, a Beta Club member will be given that wreath to adorn a veteran’s grave. This year, the Beta Club is going to travel to three cemeteries: Springville Cemetery and Pleasant Hill Cemetery on December 18th and Red Hill Cemetery on December 19th. Both Springville and Pleasant Hill cemeteries house the graves of 75 veterans each, while Red Hill cemetery houses 42. This is but a small portion of the impact this event has, though. Across the nation, over 2,500 veterans are honored annually, with even more honored both at sea and overseas in places such as Normandy. If you have a loved one who was in the military or you know someone who does, feel free to go out and honor their service with a wreath on their grave this holiday season.
