There are many Christmas traditions. A very popular one is caroling. Caroling is going to locations and singing carols with the theme of Christmas, usually done during the holidays. The tradition is practiced on all corners of the world. The earliest record of caroling dates back to the 13th century. In its earliest days, it didn’t also revolve around Christmas. It was more of people going house to house wishing good luck during winter. The action of going house to house to wish a happy holiday captures the caring and loving characteristics that most holiday traditions were built on, but that is not the only tradition that does gives that warm feeling of Christmas.

Some more holiday traditions are watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music. Some popular Christmas movies and songs include Elf, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, “All I Want for Christmas is You,” and “Jingle Bells.” The joyful topics of Christmas these loved movies and songs explore can get anyone in a holiday mood.

Christmas lights are also a huge part of the holidays. The earliest dated Christmas decorating dates back to the 16th century. The most iconic Christmas colors are green and red. The colors are inspired by the Paradise Tree, a fir tree with red apples. Whether it be decorating your own house or going to look at others’ Christmas lights, always find a way into this season. With all the flashing lights and yummy treats, it’s easy to stray away from what Christmas is really about. Christmas is truly about your loved ones and giving to others. Have a happy holiday season SHS!
