Many students from Springville High School went to Springville Elementary during the week of February 28th through March 4th to read to the students there to encourage them to continue and find joy in reading. “Read Across America” is a reading program designed to engage kids in reading books. It was started in 1998 by the National Education Association. “Read Across America” occurs the same day each year, March 2nd. This day also happens to be Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Because if this, many of the Springville High School students read the kids books written by Dr. Seuss. Sadly, Dr. Seuss passed away in 1991, but his eccentric, playful, and knowledgeable books continue to inspire young and old readers today.
