Every year in the month of April, there is a week set aside to bring awareness to animal cruelty and human violence. This year the week fell on April 17 and lasts through April 23.

This week is used to highlight the connection between animal cruelty and human violence. Not only is animal abuse harmful to the animal, but it can also become harmful for the abuser. Evidence has shown that people who abuse their animals are more likely to show hostility to other people. Many people want to stop both of these harmful actions from occurring. Some ways that you can help are by spreading the awareness through posting and talking about animal cruelty and human violence or by learning the warning signs of animal violence and reporting them to local animal control centers. You never know you might save an animal’s life and a human’s.
