Homecoming Class Competitions

Homecoming+Class+Competitions

Ava

As we all know, this upcoming week is Homecoming, and the festivities will be wild. Throughout the week students will be competing for points for their classes (senior, junior, sophomore, or freshman). There 5 main contests in which grades can earn points: dress up days, hallway decorations, the class olympics, parade float decorations, and the spirit competition. Each of these individual competitions can help each grade gain points if won.

All week long, every person that dresses up for the theme of the day will get their class extra points, so encourage your friends to participate! This goes hand in hand with the spirit competition, because the grade that has the most tiger pride and participation from the class at the pep rally will win the event.

The decorating competitions, however, are judged on the basis of which grade’s float/hallway looks the best and has the most amount of effort put into them.

The most notorious contest, The Homecoming Olympics, occurs Tuesday. That afternoon, everyone gathers in the gym to cheer on the champions that represent their classes in the various games played, such as tug-of-war, hula-hoop pass, and the donut eating race.

At the end of the pep rally on Friday, the winner will be announced and given the golden homecoming trophy, along with bragging rights for the year. All of these events heavily rely on how much participation there is from each class and the effort put in during the week, so make sure to motivate your friends to do their best!
